China Investment Corporation is a sovereign wealth fund established in 2007 with a focus on diversifying China's foreign exchange holdings and maximizing returns within acceptable risk levels. With a registered capital of $200 billion, CIC's headquarters is in Beijing, China. The corporation comprises three subsidiaries, CIC International Co., Ltd., CIC Capital Corporation, and Central Huijin Investment Ltd.
Operational since 2011, CIC International handles CIC's overseas investments and management activities, including public market equity and bond investments, hedge funds, multi-asset and real estate investments, and private equity fund investments. Meanwhile, CIC Capital Corporation, established in 2015, serves as the platform for direct investments and manages multilateral funds.
Central Huijin Investment Ltd., authorized by the State Council, focuses on equity investments in key state-owned financial enterprises to preserve and increase the value of state-owned financial assets. Notably, it does not engage in any other commercial activities or intervene in the daily operations of the state-owned financial enterprises it invests in.
CIC's overseas and domestic operations, as well as its interactions with Central Huijin, are strictly segregated through "firewall" measures, ensuring operational independence and integrity.
The Wealth Management industry in China benefits from CIC's strategic positioning and diversified investment approach, making it a key player in the global investment landscape.
