Kilombero Valley Teak Company (KVTC) was established in 1992 with a mission of "Creating Value, Conserving Forests" in Tanzania. KVTC is distinguished for its innovative forest management approach, delivering a range of social, economic, and environmental benefits to a remote area of Tanzania. At the core of the project is the sustainable cultivation and harvesting of plantation teak, alongside the protection and management of over 20,000ha of native forests and wetlands, as well as diverse wildlife and flora. Furthermore, KVTC has set up an integrated processing plant for timber production and value-added products, contributing to long-term employment and social development in the region.
KVTC counts major shareholders, including the Africa Sustainable Forestry Fund and Finnish Development funds, signifying substantial backing from reputable organizations committed to sustainable and ethical sourcing. As a company operating in the manufacturing industry, KVTC presents an opportunity for venture capital firms to engage in an impactful and environmentally conscious investment within Africa's forestry sector.
