Neighborhood Impact Investment Fund

Neighborhood Impact Investment Fund (NIIF) is an innovative non-profit investment fund, established in 2019, aiming to bring much-needed capital to historically disinvested communities in Baltimore City. As a public-private partnership formed by Baltimore City, NIIF focuses on supporting inclusive, equitable growth in Eligible Neighborhoods defined by the City, which have suffered from generations of lack of investment, segregation, and racial discrimination. These neighborhoods, making up approximately 65% of the city and housing over 90% of its Black residents, are the primary targets for NIIF's loans and investments. The Fund operates as an independent 501(c)(3) organization, certified by the US Treasury as a Community Development Financial Institution, and capitalized by a $51.7 million loan from Baltimore City. Since its inception, NIIF has experienced rapid growth, committing over $35 million to impactful projects and initiatives. Notably, on April 10, 2023, the Fund received a $4.96 million grant investment from the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. NIIF's efforts align with its slogan, "Inclusive Investment for Baltimore Neighborhoods," reflecting its dedication to fostering economic development and prosperity in historically marginalized communities.
