AirQo is a Uganda-based startup with the slogan "Know Your Air." The company's vision is to enhance clean air for all African cities by collecting, analyzing, and forecasting air quality data to international standards. Founded in 2015, AirQo aims to close the gaps in air quality data in Uganda and across all African countries. Through the deployment of over 65 air quality monitors across Uganda, AirQo is utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to derive insights and inform mitigation actions.
One notable achievement is securing a $1.30M grant investment from Google.org in August 2019. This investment reflects the confidence of a major player in the tech industry in AirQo's mission. The company's strength is derived from its partnerships with key stakeholders such as government bodies, foreign missions, researchers, the private sector, schools, and communities. By working together, AirQo and its partners are taking concerted efforts to improve air quality in African cities. As their network of low-cost air quality monitors expands, AirQo is poised to make a significant impact in the fight against air pollution in African urban centers.
