Association Member Trust (AMT)

Founded in 1945, Association Member Trust (AMT) is a unique not-for-profit multi-association benefits trust, serving the group benefit needs of participating association employer members. It was established as the successor to the New Jersey Fuel Merchants Association Insurance Trust, with a focus on self-funded health and dental benefits programs. AMT combines employer units from seventeen independent trade associations to maximize claim stability, administrative efficiency, and cost savings.

AMT operates in accordance with the NJ MEWA law and is registered with the NJ Department of Banking and Insurance. The trust secures aggregate and specific stop-loss protection for health claims through Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, limiting loss exposure. Additionally, Delta Dental Plan of New Jersey provides dental claims processing services.

Financially, AMT holds reserves to fund incurred but not reported claims, meeting New Jersey's Risk Based Capital requirements. The Unicare Life and Health Insurance Company provides AMT employers with fully insured group Life and AD&D coverage options.

The AMT Trust Board of Trustees is composed of representatives from each of the independent trade association’s Sub-Trusts, totaling seventeen trustees in the management.
