Aurora Theatre is the only professional theatre in Gwinnett County, Georgia, producing over 800 events annually and projecting to host 100,000 patrons this year. Under the artistic leadership of Co-Founder and Producing Artistic Director Ann-Carol Pence and Managing Director Katie Pelkey, the theatre presents a diverse range of theatrical productions, from Broadway plays and musicals to contemporary theatre. Celebrating its 29th Season, Aurora Theatre serves as a resident company and manager of the Lawrenceville Arts Center (LAC), featuring five venues for indoor and outdoor performances and events.
In addition to theatrical productions, Aurora Theatre also organizes concerts, stand-up comedy shows, children’s programs, Lawrenceville Ghost Tours, and Atlanta’s only professional Spanish language theatre, Teatro Aurora. Located in the historic downtown square, the Lawrenceville Arts Center offers free covered parking and is surrounded by various dining and shopping options.
Co-founded by Anthony Rodriguez and Ann-Carol Pence, Aurora Theatre boasts a remarkable list of accolades, including the 2016 Governor’s Award for the Arts & Humanities, numerous Suzi Bass Awards, Georgia Trend Magazine's "Best Places to Work in Georgia," Atlanta Business Chronicle's "Best Places to Work," and Atlanta Magazine's "Best of Atlanta" for Best Inclusive Programming. The theatre has also received the Gwinnett Chamber’s Inaugural Moxie Award for Outstanding Woman-led Organization, the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO Award for Excellence in Arts, and the Gwinnett Chamber’s IMPACT Regional Business Award for Hospitality.
