Banas Dairy, known as Asia's largest dairy cooperative, is an influential player in India's dairy industry and rural economy. Officially named the Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd., it is a key division of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), operating under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of Gujarat.
Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Palanpur, Banaskantha district, Gujarat, Banas Dairy has become a model of excellence in cooperative enterprise. The cooperative is supported by over 1,80,000 shareholders and 1,450 cooperative societies, collecting an average of 75.14 lakh liters of milk daily. Its peak collection reaches 90.86 lakh liters during winter, bolstered by its extensive network.
The organization achieved a significant turnover of ₹19,008 crore in the fiscal year 2023-24, reflecting its growth through innovation and efficiency. As part of the renowned Amul brand, its diverse product portfolio continues to enhance farmer incomes and contribute to the socio-economic development of India. Despite its remarkable achievements, it has not received recent external investments.
