Batsheva Dance Company is a critically acclaimed contemporary dance company based in Israel. Founded in 1964 by the Baroness Batsheva de Rothschild and with the legendary Martha Graham as its first Artistic Advisor, the company has gained international recognition. Since 1990, under the artistic direction of Ohad Naharin, the company has flourished with its innovative choreographic vision and the development of the movement language, Gaga.
With over 250 performances and nearly 100,000 spectators annually, the company, along with its junior Batsheva Ensemble, has established itself as a leading organization in the field of contemporary dance. The company's annual operating budget of $5.5 million is supported by a mix of self-generated income, government and municipal grants, as well as donations from Israel and abroad.
