The company's rich history dates back to its establishment by Ian H. Cameron, who initiated the venture with a loan of £300, set up in Bridgend, Perth. The World War II years saw a temporary closure of the business, but it resurged in the 1950s with the establishment of a new dealership in Scone, housing Volkswagen and, subsequently, Volvo in 1953.

The 1958 acquisition of Volvo marked a significant milestone, distinguishing Cameron Motor Group as the longest-serving dealer for VW and Volvo in the UK. Douglas Cameron assumed leadership in 1970 and secured the Audi contract in 1973, further expanding the company's portfolio. Over the years, the business evolved, with new establishments for Volvo, Renault, Volkswagen, and Perth Audi, reflecting its commitment to growth and diversification.
