About Collegiate Times

The Collegiate Times, established in 1903 at Virginia Tech, is Blacksburg's oldest newspaper. Originally focused on sports, it has evolved into a student-run daily publication covering campus news, features, sports, and opinions. Since 1979, the newspaper has been self-sustaining through advertising and subscription revenues, no longer relying on university funds. Published on Mondays and Thursdays during the academic year, it has a circulation of 14,000 and a readership of over 26,000. The Collegiate Times is a member of several press associations, including the Associated Collegiate Press, the Virginia Press Association, Southern University Newspapers, College Media Advisers, and the College Newspaper Business and Advertising Manager Association. It operates under the Educational Media Company at Virginia Tech Inc., a student-run corporation that also includes the Bugle, WUVT, VTTV, SPPS, College Media Solutions, and the Silhouette. Through its sister company, College Media Solutions, the Collegiate Times manages its advertising. It maintains its editorial staff offices in 365 Squires Student Center. As of now, there is no public record of its recent investment details or investors.
