Lagasse was originally founded as a mop manufacturer in 1947 in a New Orleans garage by Errol and Clint Lagasse. The company gradually expanded its business and in 1971, they shifted to wholesale after identifying a gap in the janitorial and sanitation industry. Their dedication to quality service and a growing range of products led Lagasse Brothers, Inc. to establish 3 new locations outside Louisiana in 1986, followed by an additional 10 distribution centers in 1990. This expansion enabled them to enter new market segments such as foodservice, paper, industrial, and safety.
