LO-FI GAMES LTD is an independent games studio based in Bristol, UK. Founded by Chris Hunt in 2006, the studio gained recognition with its cult sandbox survival RPG, Kenshi, released in December 2018. Originally a one-man team for six years, Hunt persevered through financial struggles, working as a security guard by night while developing the game during the day.
After the success of Kenshi on Steam Greenlight’s Early Access in 2013, the studio expanded and the game became a best seller upon its release. As of 2019, it was among the top 100 most played games on Steam with 'overwhelmingly positive' reviews and an average playtime in the hundreds of hours. With over two million copies sold worldwide, LO-FI GAMES is currently working on Kenshi 2.
The studio has not disclosed its last investment or the investors involved. Despite the lack of specific information about recent financial backing, LO-FI GAMES LTD's success with Kenshi and its dedicated fan base position it as an intriguing potential investment opportunity within the indie games market. The company’s proven track record and strong performance metrics make it an attractive prospect for venture capitalists seeking opportunities in the gaming industry.
