About Mathieu Lustrerie

Mathieu Lusterie is an institution specializing in the restoration, re-editions and contemporary chandelier designs. In 1992, Regis Mathieu inherited the lusterie and garnered his relationships with distinguished professionals linked to historic monuments and collaborated with architects to develop an unique savoir-faire of the heritage of chandeliers. Recognized worldwide as the undisputed specialist in the restoration and re-edition of historic chandeliers, Mathieu Lusterie has worked on major projects in Europe, the United States, China and India. Projects range from consultancy to the Maharajas of India to the National Assembly and some of the largest international institutions including the Comédie Française, Opéra Garnier, Château de Versailles and Musée du Louvre. In 2011, Régis Mathieu developed the revolutionary LED bulb “Evolution One”; an accurate rendition of the candle flame. In order to relaunch the trend of exceptional pendant lights, he created his first collection made out of rock crystal in 2005. By using traditional savoir-faire with contemporary design, Régis Mathieu became the first designer to exhibit chandeliers in international decorative art salons where his fascinating curatorial approach catapulted him into the limelight amongst collectors, interior designers, journalists and critics. Mathieu Lusterie’s creations have been acquired by various luxury boutiques such as Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Hermès, Chaumet, Chanel etc. In 2002, when Régis Mathieu set up his business in the heart of the Luberon National Park in the old ocher factories of Gargas, he welcomed the public into his atelier in order to share the knowledge of this exceptional art. In 2010, the Mathieu Museum in Gargas was inaugurated. Boasting an expansive space spanning a 1000 m2, over two hundred pieces depict narratives of five centuries of decorative art. In 2013, Régis Mathieu Gallery was launched in Paris on Rue de Miromesnil.
