About NYC STEM CLUB Inc

NYC STEM Club was founded in 2015 by an NYC parent in Battery Park City with the goal of making quality STEM education available to neighborhood children. We quickly realized that the existing Department Of Education (DoE) prescribed curriculum followed in NYC’s elementary and middle schools are inadequate in preparing the children for the increased rigor from high school onwards, and for the global competition in top colleges and the workplace. We believe that a strong foundation in Math and English Language Arts (ELA) is required for children to excel in Science and Technology. Numerous research studies show a strong correlation between specific skills in language arts and comprehension and mathematical abilities. Better comprehension leads to improved math problem solving and skills through greater understanding rather than by the mere application of formulas that they memorized. NYC STEM Club programs were therefore expanded to include rigorous academic course work that incorporates interdisciplinary material. Programs are now offered in Math, Reading, Writing, Computer Science for elementary, middle and high school children. Test prep services covering State tests, SHSAT, ISEE/SSAT, AP Exams, SAT and ACT are also offered to enable students to place in the best schools/colleges with continued access to high-quality education.
