Polk County BoCC

Polk County BoCC is the governing body of Polk County, contributing significantly to the state's economy through its key industries such as citrus, cattle, agriculture, and phosphate. Elected by a countywide vote, the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) holds various responsibilities, including adopting an annual budget for essential county services and institutions such as the Sheriff, Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, Supervisor of Elections, Circuit and County Courts, State Attorney, Public Defender, and Clerk of the Court. Additionally, the commission is entrusted with important tasks such as levying taxes and fees, maintaining county buildings, providing essential services like fire protection and ambulance services, as well as managing health, welfare, cultural, and recreational programs and facilities.
