RIES | Positioning Strategy & Consulting is a global strategic consulting firm led by Al Ries, who founded his first agency in RCC in 1963 in New York City. Today, his daughter Laura Ries is Chairwoman of the company. RIES gained prominence in 1972 with a series of influential articles on the concept of "Positioning" in Advertising Age, co-authored by Al Ries & Jack Trout, which became one of the 75 most important advertising ideas of the past 75 years according to AdAge. Their book "Positioning", published in 1981 by Al Ries as the lead author, has sold over 4 million copies. The company has also co-authored several other impactful books, including "The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding", "the Fall of Advertising & the Rise of PR", "The Origin of Brands", "War in the Boardroom", "Visual Hammer", "Battlecry" and "Positioning in the 21st Century".
