About Sidewood

Sidewood Estate Winery is the largest sustainable winery in the Adelaide Hills, where passion, sustainability, and exceptional craftsmanship come together to create unforgettable wines. Founded in 2004 by Owen and Cassandra Inglis, Sidewood is dedicated to producing beautifully balanced and elegant wines of the highest quality. Their commitment to excellence has earned them the prestigious "5-Red Star winery" accreditation from James Halliday. With recent expansions, including the acquisition of the Charleston Vineyard, Sidewood now boasts 120 hectares of vineyards, solidifying their position as a leader in environmentally friendly viticulture.

Meticulous vineyard management, including a state-of-the-art frost protection system, ensures the health of their vines and the quality of their fruit. With a diverse portfolio sourced from four distinct vineyards and the expertise of internationally acclaimed Winemaker Darryl Catlin, Sidewood Estate Winery offers an extraordinary wine experience that combines sustainability and excellence. Join them on a journey to redefine the art of winemaking in the Adelaide Hills and beyond.

The cellar door includes a range of masterclasses and unique experiences, recently awarded for Innovative Wine Tourism Services 2024 by Great Wine Capitals. Widely known for their sabrage experience, have come to learn the art of opening a bottle of sparkling wine with a traditional sword or sabre.

Their restaurant, helmed by Executive Chef Jamie Carter uses carefully sourced sustainable ingredients with a focus on local Adelaide Hills and South Australian suppliers, with each dish designed to pair with one of Sidewood’s wines. This focus on linking food and wine is what has earned the award for Best Wine Tourism Restaurant 2023 from Great Wine Capitals of the World.
