About SocialEngine

SocialEngine is a community-building software that aims to provide a fast and mobile platform for individuals and organizations to create fully custom social networks. It was founded in 2007 by Alex Benzer and Charlotte Genevier, who recognized the growing trend of niche community websites and the inadequacy of available tools to create social networks. Their solution has been recognized with the "Best Social Network Software" award in the 2015 CMS Critic People’s Choice Awards. Since its launch, SocialEngine has rapidly evolved, now being in its fourth version, with a global development community actively contributing to its customization, software add-ons, installs, and more. Over 8,500 individuals, hobby groups, professional organizations, schools, institutions, and non-profits have used the platform, cumulatively hosting millions of end users. In 2012, SocialEngine introduced its Cloud product, offering a platform as a service (PAAS) solution. This platform as a service aims to provide a more economical solution without software hosting and install requirements. Notably, SocialEngine received a Seed Round investment on 15 April 2011 from Techstars. In 2014, the company was acquired by Room 214, a digital marketing and social media agency. The company continues to maintain two code bases (PHP and Cloud) and aims to improve features and accessibility to social network creators globally in the finance and information technology industries from its headquarters in the United States.
