Team GB is the official Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic Team, overseen by the British Olympic Association (BOA) which was established in 1905. The BOA selects the best athletes to compete in 32 summer and 8 winter Olympic sports, representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the world's greatest sporting competition. As the National Olympic Committee, the BOA comprises 40 National Governing Bodies (NGBs) for each Olympic sport, both summer and winter, and is one of 206 NOCs recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Great Britain has a rich Olympic history, having been represented at every summer Olympic Games since 1896 and every Olympic Winter Games since 1924.
