Watchful Software was a Portuguese startup founded in 2012, and in 2017 it was acquired by Symantec. The company focused on keeping sensitive data safe from accidental or malicious loss or damage. Its flagship solution, RightsWATCH, was rebranded into Information Centric Tagging (ICT) inside Symantec's Information Centric Security product suite. This solution aimed to enable businesses to automatically implement security policies for data classification and labeling to meet compliance guidelines. It offered an intuitive and seamless user experience and allowed for real-time deployment of security policies without intervention from the IT support team or the user. In addition to RightsWATCH, Watchful Software also developed TypeWATCH, a behavioural biometrics solution that monitored a user’s unique keystroke pattern to identify anomalous behavior and validate the user’s identity.
The last recorded investment in Watchful Software was a Private Equity Round in 01 August 2014, with Hudson Fairfax Group as the investors. The startup operated in the IT and Information Technology industries, and was headquartered in Portugal.
