The bond's open architecture provides great flexibility by enabling an adviser to change the underlying investment portfolio as the investment needs of the client changes. The adviser can adapt the portfolio and switch between the extensive choice of providers without generating a tax liability. Traditionally, onshore investment bonds only allow investment through the provider's own restricted range of funds and the typical bond structure does not allow movement between fund managers without first surrendering the bond.
