Vertis

Vertis is an environmental commodities trader, specialising in emissions and energy efficiency. As one of the carbon market pioneers, Vertis started its emissions trading business in 2001. Vertis is based in Budapest, Hungary, with a multinational team trading greenhouse gas emissions units across the EU with industrial clients in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, and with project developers and aircraft operators from around the world. We executed the first VER transaction in 2003, the first European spot CER transaction in 2007 and the first ever ERU spot transaction in 2009. Vertis was also an early driver of the Joint Implementation (JI) mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol, closing its first JI deal in 2002. Vertis Environmental Finance awarded Best Broker 2011 by Thomson Reuters Point Carbon, voted Nr.1. Emissions Dealer 2015 in a poll organised by Energy Risk Magazine and voted Best Research in Emissions by Energy Risk Magazine in 2017. Vertis opened its offices in Madrid in 2014.
