Paraquad is a private 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization founded in 1970 with the mission to empower people with disabilities to increase their independence through choice and opportunity. It is one of the oldest Centers for Independent Living in the United States, advocating the independent living philosophy and striving for an integrated community where people with disabilities are valued and participate in all aspects of society.
Offering over 40 services tailored to individuals with various types of disabilities, Paraquad served 2,598 people with disabilities in 2016. As the largest organization serving people with all disabilities in the St. Louis region and with a focus on increased independence, Paraquad stands out within the Health Care industry.
