Union Banka d.d. Sarajevo is the only commercial bank in majority state ownership in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The company has a rich history, originating in 1955 as a branch of the Yugoslav Bank for Foreign Trade, and later transforming into an independent financial institution named Jugobanka Jubbanka d.d. Sarajevo in the early 1990s. After undergoing significant damage during the war, the bank worked diligently to establish its position in the market. In 2012, the bank began modernizing its operations, welcoming young and experienced professionals to its management, and formulating a new mission, vision, and corporate values. As part of this transformation, it developed a long-term business development strategy and revamped its visual identity in collaboration with the academic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the following years, the bank renovated its business units across the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, expanded its business network, and culminated the ongoing changes by relocating its headquarters and establishing a new office building—all of which contributed to shaping the bank's corporate identity. Today, Union Banka d.d. Sarajevo operates as the sole commercial bank in majority state ownership in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a mission to build a development-oriented commercial bank offering a wide range of high-quality banking services that meet the real needs of its clients.
