This Cookie Policy explains how Bounce Watch International Operating B.V. uses cookies and similar technologies on bouncewatch.com and the Bounce Watch application.
What runs without cookies and without your consent — we operate a privacy-preserving first-party analytics layer that does NOT use cookies, localStorage, fingerprinting or any persistent identifier. It records per-page hits (path, page title, time the page was in view, how far down it was scrolled, which links and buttons were used, referring site, country code, browser family, derived OS / device type) and a daily-rotating salted SHA-256 hash that resets every calendar day, so the same visitor produces a different stamp tomorrow and no multi-day journey can be reconstructed. This is treated as anonymous data under GDPR Recital 26 and falls outside the ePrivacy consent requirement because no storage on your device is read or written. You can opt out of all cookie-based analytics (including the layer described above runs regardless).
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your actions and preferences (such as login state and language) over a period of time. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and SDKs — for simplicity, we refer to all of these as "cookies".
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
Required for the Services to function. These cannot be disabled.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| laravel_session / XSRF-TOKEN | Bounce Watch | Session management, security (CSRF protection) | Session / 2 hours |
| cookie-consent (localStorage) | Bounce Watch | Stores your cookie preference (accept / reject analytics) | Until cleared |
| __cf_bm / cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Bot protection and security | 30 minutes / 1 year |
2.2 Analytics cookies
Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These are set only after you accept in the cookie banner — until then, Google Analytics runs in a consent-denied (cookieless) mode. Google advertising signals and ad personalization are disabled; we use Google Analytics for analytics only.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_*, _gid | Google Analytics | Visitor statistics, page usage (analytics only — no advertising) | Up to 24 months |
| bw_vid | Bounce Watch | First-party: recognises a returning visitor in our own analytics. Removed when you withdraw consent | 13 months |
3. Managing Cookies
- Cookie banner: when you first visit, you can accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing cookies for this site.
- Browser settings: all major browsers let you block or delete cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will break login and core functionality.
- Google Analytics opt-out: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
4. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version.
