Initially established as Citroën Automobile Production Joint Stock Company of Iran, in 1972 it rebranded as SAIPA and later became a public joint-stock company. Over the years, it has expanded its portfolio by acquiring majority shares in companies like Pars Khodro, Zamyad, and SAIPA Diesel, forming the SAIPA Automobile Group. The group oversees a vast network of more than 80 companies, directly and indirectly employing around 40,000 personnel. With seven manufacturing sites, including plants dedicated to passenger cars and commercial vehicles, SAIPA Group has the capacity to produce approximately one million units. Moreover, the company also boasts a robust supply network with over a thousand suppliers through SAIPA Sazeh Gostar and Megamotor companies. In addition, it has also invested in advancing knowledge-based initiatives by establishing the SAIPA Automobile Industries Research and Innovation Center in 1997, emphasizing automobile research, design, and product development, and serving as the country’s first specialized car design center.
