Aavalor, founded in 2021 and headquartered in The Netherlands, is pioneering advancements in the Sustainability and Water sectors with its ceramic-graphene hybrid membranes. This technology is designed to revolutionize industrial cooling water recovery, demonstrating significant improvements over conventional systems by operating at ≤1 bar compared to the typical 10 to 20 bar.
The result is a dramatic reduction in energy consumption—7 to 10 times less—and a 50% increase in throughput, while also effectively removing contaminants such as PFAS, nitrates, phosphates, and COD. The membranes have been successfully validated at WaterCampus Leeuwarden, showcasing potential applications in data centers and power plants. The potential cost savings and water recovery benefits could result in significant operational savings and environmental impact.
Despite its early stage, Aavalor is already attracting attention, with a recent Non Equity Assistance investment on 15 July 2022, underscoring its promising technology and market potential.
