AlveoGene is a cutting-edge company with a vision to revolutionize outcomes for rare respiratory diseases through inhaled gene therapy. Established in 2022, the company is a collaboration between Oxford Science Enterprises, Edinburgh Innovations, and Harrington Discovery Institute at University Hospitals, along with six esteemed scientists from the renowned UK Respiratory Gene Therapy Consortium (GTC).
The company has obtained an exclusive license for a validated next-generation lentiviral delivery platform, known as InGenuiTy™, developed by the GTC. This platform aims to address high unmet needs in respiratory diseases, except for cystic fibrosis, by delivering gene therapies through a nebulizer. This innovative approach efficiently transduces lung epithelial cells and ensures prolonged efficacy even after repeated administration.
Over the years, AlveoGene has garnered significant support, securing approximately £72 million in grant funding from reputed organizations including the Wellcome Trust, Department of Health and Social Care, Medical Research Council, and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
With its groundbreaking approach and strong financial backing, AlveoGene holds great promise in reshaping the treatment landscape for rare respiratory diseases, offering potential benefits for both patients and investors in the biotechnology and healthcare sectors.
