About IONA

IONA is a UK-based startup that focuses on developing a hyper-efficient autonomous delivery network, specifically targeting rural areas. The company's slogan is "Hyper-efficient and autonomous delivery network for rural areas" and it operates within the realms of #ClimateTech, #Robotics, and #AutonomousLogistics. Founded in 2021, IONA's core mission is to address the challenges faced by shipping companies in last-mile deliveries, such as empty cargo bays, scattered delivery points, and driver shortages. The company aims to combat isolation in rural communities and reduce carbon emissions by over 200Mt of CO2e through the avoidance of inefficient 3T trucks when operating empty. IONA leverages a novel regulatory framework and readily available components to offer a turnkey hardware-as-a-service solution that transforms the last-mile into the most profitable segment for logistics companies. Additionally, the startup also envisions secondary markets in industrial and medical deliveries. IONA recently secured a Pre Seed Round investment on 21 June 2023, with notable investors such as Techstars, SFC Capital, Nodes Ventures, Ventures Together, and Alex Macdonald participating. The company operates within the Drones, Logistics, Robotics, Space, and Sustainability industries, positioning itself at the intersection of technological advancement and sustainable solutions for last-mile deliveries.
