K-Electric (KE) is the only vertically integrated power utility in Pakistan, serving Karachi and its outskirts with electricity. Privatized in 2005, the company is publicly listed and predominantly owned by KES Power, a consortium of investors including Aljomaih Power Limited of Saudi Arabia, National Industries Group (Holding) of Kuwait, and the Infrastructure and Growth Capital Fund (IGCF). The Government of Pakistan also holds a minority stake in the company.
With a workforce of around 11,000 employees, KE is a major employer and has been recognized for its professional development initiatives, being among the 'Approved, Training Employer' by the ICAEW and the recipient of the Platinum Employer Status by the ACCA.
In 2012, KE achieved a level ‘A’ rating from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) for its Integrated Sustainability Report, making it the first power utility in Pakistan to attain this rating for an integrated report. This underlines its commitment to sustainability and transparency in its operations.
As an essential player in Pakistan’s energy sector, providing services to a metropolis of 20 million people, K-Electric holds significant potential for investors looking to tap into the country's power utility market.
