Originally founded in 1985, Kindred's services expanded through acquisitions and partnerships.

In December 2021, Kindred Healthcare became part of LifePoint Health, a prominent healthcare company. Subsequently, Kindred, along with 61 long-term acute care hospitals (LTACHs) and 18 community-based, short-term acute care hospital campuses, joined forces with ScionHealth. These developments signify a strategic alliance geared towards enhancing Kindred's healthcare services.

Additionally, Cornerstone Healthcare Group integrated into the ScionHealth family of hospitals and hospital services in January 2023, further solidifying their position in the healthcare industry. These alliances have significantly broadened Kindred's network and have enhanced their ability to deliver comprehensive healthcare solutions.
