Optonom is a Turkey-based startup founded in 2015, serving as a Turn-Key Solution Partner for Plastic Optics with a strong focus on optical engineering, precise optical molding, and injection production. The company is situated in Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) campus and has received support from the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology. Optonom’s engineering team boasts extensive expertise in designing and fabricating optical components, encompassing critical optical systems for lens design, illumination design, and sensitive biomedical systems.
The startup has established key partnerships with Lambda Research Co. of the USA since 2016, as well as with Sill Optics of Germany, serving as a solution provider and official distributor of optical simulation software such as TracePro and Oslo. These software tools are instrumental for ray tracing and system modeling in conjunction with Solidworks. Optonom's core focus lies in optics, ranging from lens, reflector, and illumination to biomedical lighting, defense industry systems, automotive sector lighting systems, intelligent lighting systems, and traffic lighting systems.
Operating primarily in the domains of optical design and measurement technologies, Optonom has successfully completed various interdisciplinary projects in fields including camera-based machine vision, mechanical, embedded systems, and software. The company's notable achievements include conducting R&D activities and becoming the first domestic production in Turkey to merit public support, particularly for its indigenous optical dilatometer device.
Currently, Optonom has yet to disclose its latest investment round and associated investors. With its concentration on design and telecom industries, Optonom remains poised to leverage its optical competencies and engineering capabilities to drive innovation and growth within the sector.
