About Pelty

Pelty is a Milan-based startup that has created the first Bluetooth speaker powered by fire. Leveraging the Peltier Effect, a physical phenomenon discovered in 1834, Pelty's technology transforms thermal energy into electricity. The highly functional and elegant Pelty device is constructed from ceramic and wood, housing an oil lamp fueled by bioethanol which powers the entire mechanism. With just a few seconds' wait, the small flame starts the device, which can then be remotely controlled via smartphone or tablet through a Bluetooth connection to play music, select tracks, and regulate volume. Pelty boasts high audio quality, making it suitable for both entertainment and relaxation, usable both indoors and outdoors. As an eco-friendly product, Pelty eliminates the need for battery chargers or power cables as it reliance solely on the heat from the device's flame for power. The lamp is rechargeable and optimized for bioethanol use. The startup was founded in 2014 and operates in the Consumer Electronics industry with its headquarters in Italy. Pelty received its Seed Round investment on 01 June 2015 from Embed Capital.
