Planet Forward is an environmental journalism project launched in 2009 by The George Washington University School of Media & Public Affairs. Its mission is to engage the youth and innovators in tackling the planet's greatest challenges through storytelling, media, and forums. Championed by Emmy Award-winning journalist Frank Sesno, the initiative focuses on promoting groundbreaking ideas to address issues in food, water, energy, and the environment.
As an outreach component and innovation research hub of GW’s interdisciplinary sustainability initiative, Planet Forward operates within the Publishing industry, aiming to empower new voices and elevate compelling ideas. The recent grant investment from the Walton Family Foundation in March 3, 2024 signifies the continued faith and support from prestigious sources, enhancing the project's credibility and potential for growth in the United States and beyond.
