Resilience (formerly RVA) is a not-for-profit organization based in Illinois with a core focus on supporting survivors of sexual assault. The organization's mission is twofold: to ensure that survivors are treated with dignity and compassion and to drive systemic changes in the legal, medical, and societal responses to survivors. The organization provides nonjudgmental emotional support in Chicago area emergency rooms, offers legal and medical information, and connects survivors with other service organizations to help them make informed decisions. Additionally, Resilience conducts ongoing support through telephone follow-ups and provides counseling and legal advocacy services. The organization collaborates with Chicago Police Department, the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, and other area institutions to advocate for improved treatment of survivors. Founded in 1974, Resilience offers three core program areas: Counseling, Advocacy, and Education & Training.
Resilience's impactful work and comprehensive support services position the organization as a pivotal player in addressing the aftermath of sexual violence. With its extensive experience and robust network of partnerships, Resilience has the potential to drive substantial social change and shape the narrative around survivors' rights and treatment. As societal awareness of sexual violence continues to grow, Resilience remains at the forefront of this crucial conversation, placing it in a strong position to attract strategic partnerships and investment opportunities that align with its mission of empowering survivors and ending sexual violence.
