About Telecom Egypt

Telecom Egypt is the first total telecom operator in Egypt, with a history dating back to its establishment in 1854. Leveraging its extensive infrastructure, one of the largest in the region, the company has been a key driver of growth in the local ICT market. Telecom Egypt serves a diverse customer base, including consumers, enterprises, domestic and international carriers, and its consolidated top-line reached EGP 22.8bn. In September 2017, Telecom Egypt launched its mobile services under the new retail brand "WE." Within a year, "WE" introduced the market’s first fully integrated bundle, consolidating all consumer services – fixed and mobile, voice and data – into a single bill. This move showcased the company's agility in the telecommunications industry and marked its initial step toward full convergence. By the end of 2018, Telecom Egypt's fixed voice customers reached 7.9mn, with 5.2mn enjoying fixed broadband connectivity, while its mobile customer base grew to 3.9mn. The company's wholesale unit plays a crucial role, offering infrastructure, transmission, and international voice services to local mobile operators and internet service providers. Additionally, it provides international carries capacities through one of the largest submarine cable networks globally. Notably, in March 2022, Telecom Egypt secured a €150.00M Debt Financing investment from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This strategic investment further strengthens Telecom Egypt's position and underscores its potential for continued growth and innovation in the field of telecommunications.
